Vietnam country grant project welcomes the UN Interagency Coordination Group on AMR
A tour of the pilot laboratory surveillance project in Vietnam given to the UN IACG.
A delegation from the United Nations Interagency Coordination Group (IACG) on AMR, led by the UK Chief Medical Officer Professor Dame Sally Davies attended the formal inauguration of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Reference Laboratory at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) Vietnam on 5 February 2018, as part of their visit to the country. During the course of the visit the IACG members were briefed on the project by staff from NHTD and Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) Vietnam, toured the new laboratory, and met with Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and her staff.
Dame Sally Davies also met with the Vice Minister Vu Van Tam and officials from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This provided an opportunity to discuss how future support from the Fleming Fund to Vietnam could extend to work on AMR in animal health, agriculture and aquaculture.
