Statement from the Fleming Fund on COVID-19

The Fleming Fund team is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 outbreak and is acutely aware of the impact this will have across the programme and our partners.

In recent weeks, there has been a significant escalation in global travel restrictions, international borders closing and a range of social distancing measures that are likely to continue for a number of months. In this constantly changing situation, our top priority remains the wellbeing of people, which of course includes ensuring our partners can prioritise the wellbeing of their teams and those they work with.

We understand that partners will need to make decisions on how to manage the impact of COVID-19 on project activities or whether to redirect focus to the COVID-19 response, and that this will vary throughout the next few months depending on local circumstances and need. We are working with partners to support them as the situation develops and as their circumstances and priorities continue to change.

We would like to thank our partners for their hard work during this extraordinary time. We must do all we can to support each other and work together to create a safer and healthier world, including by continuing to tackle AMR. It is essential that work to prevent other global health threats does not stop in light of COVID-19, and the Fleming Fund will continue to support partners to carry out this important work.
